Guardian In Home Services, Inc.

Guardian In Home Services  is a non-medical referral agency that assists families to help keep their loved ones in the comfort of their home. This gives the client the ability to be surrounded by their favorite things. As a family owned and operated agency we strive to bring better quality of life for those you love.

Harold N. Johns  is Co-founder and President of Guardian In Home Services. He had been in a management position with a franchise before becoming a truck driver and becoming involved with the agency. Harold handles all the advertising and marketing for Guardian.

Marjorie H. Johns  is Founder and Executive Office Manager. She had worked previously doing private duty for numerous people throughout Franklin County. Marjorie started Guardian In Home Services in October 1997 when she had a back injury and the family needed some respite care. She found it was very difficult to find dependable and caring people who would come into her home and help with the daily struggles of bathing and dressing. It was then Marjorie decided she wanted to help others as they had helped her and she started Guardian from her home. Since the beginning of the agency Guardian has served over 900 clients and still counting. As the agency grew Marjorie and Harold have had to expand the office space and is now located at 8941 Kings Lane Mercersburg, PA. This had been the family residence for over 30 years; Harold and Marjorie take pride in being a lighthouse in the community and strive to give their best.

Harold and Marjorie have four sons, Toby, Jason, Brian and Coreyryan and one daughter, Jennifer. They also have seven grandchildren.

Jennifer Hudson  is the daughter of Harold and Marjorie Johns. She is the Financial Manager for Guardian In Home Services. Her duties include bookkeeping, scheduling, assessments and interviews. Jennifer likes the idea of having the elderly being able to stay in the comfort of their homes. She has been with the agency for over 10 years. Jennifer had and office in her home at one time and then moved to the Corporate Office in Mercersburg on Kings Lane. She is a graduate of James Buchanan High School and has a degree of Cosmetology from Franklin County Area Vo-Tech. Jennifer is married and they have two sons and one daughter.

Paula Heinbaugh  is a Home Care Coordinator of the Pennsylvania and Maryland offices and a Home Care Coordiantor. She has been with Guardian since July of 2006. Paula has more than 20 years experience in the business world with income tax preparation and bookkeeping skills to office management. She has over 10 years experience in the health field. During this time she has learned a lot about the home care service that is so much in demand in the area. Paula has found the elderly seem to do much better in their own environments and surroundings. With the assistance of our care providers the elderly, disabled, lonely or depressed have the ability to be able to stay where they feel safe and secure. Some of hr duties include going into the homes and conducting the initial assessment with the clients, scheduling and interviews. She also does the in-services with Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities or Hospitals. Paula is married to Sterling and the have five sons and one daughter. They also have eight grandchildren.

Candy McCauley is the Marketing Director.  She is a recent addition to the staff. She has been out of the office for 12 years.  She and her mother started a Home Daycare in Upton.  She then branched out onher own on Mercersburg and continued for another 10 years.  After a tearful goodbye to "her" children and their parents she is excited to start a new career her at Guardian In Home Services.  Candy is a graduate of James Buchanan High School.  She has a large extended family and understands the need to nurture, care and spend time with loved ones on a daily basis.  She believes strongly in the goals of our agency.  Candy is the wife of Andy McCaule.  They have one son who is currently attending Frederick Community College.

Wendy Roper is a recent additon to the staff of Guardian In Home Services and is a Home Care Coordinator. Wendy's duties also include receptionist.  She graduated from Linganore High School in Frederick, Md.  Wendy has 18 years of experience working with the public from Industrial to Health Care work force.  In her free time she enjoys taking care of her cats, metal detecting and cross stitching.  Wendy is marreid to George and have one stepson and two grandchildren. 

There is a Registered Nurse on Staff.
